One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This is the first book of Taylor Reid's I've read and I am in lovvve. One True Loves is a absolutely gorgeous masterpiece. It's just so unspeakably beautiful. (I know I'm gushing but I can't help it) The characters are amazing, and the plot is even better.

Synopsis & Details:

From the author of Maybe in Another Life—named a People Magazine pick and a "Best Book of the Summer" by Glamour and USA Today—comes a breathtaking new love story about a woman unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thought dead and the read more... fiancé who has finally brought her back to life.

In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever.

Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.

That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancé, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.

Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly?

Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

Title: One True Loves
Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid
Series: Standalone
Genres: RomanceContemporary, Adult
Source: I received an ARC from Washington Square Press for review consideration.

Emma Blair, our main girl marries her high school sweet heart, Jesse, and they are completely and utterly in love.

Then on their first anniversary Jesse is on helicopter that crashes, he is never found and is pronounced dead.

After this shocking news, Emma filled with grief, leaves the life she built with Jesse in California and returns to her home town, Acton, Massachusetts.

There years afterwards she runs into an old high school friend, Sam. They fall in love and get engaged.

Then weeks before their wedding Emma's long lost love returns miraculously, as a result she is forced to choose between her fiancé and her husband. (okay I just made this book sound like a cheesy, cliche romance book. . . but believe me it's so much moorre zhen zhat)

I shipped the MC, Emma with both Sam and Jesse if that's even f**king possible????

The romance between both of the shirps (ships) in this book were beautifully written and absolutely adorable. I shipped everyone so hard and my brain was so exasperatingly confused.

I believe this is the first time I've even encountered a book that handles love in such a fashion.

That was by far my favorite thing about this book, Emma is in such a unique position.
How This Book Slays
  • The MC's Family owns a bookstore #goals
  • Cattttssss
  • Beautiful Writing (it's gorgeous believe meeee)
  • Two amazing swoony love interests (seriously I would gladly take one of them off her hands)
  • Unique format to the book (it's divided into different sections)
  • Pretty Cover! #coversnobforlife
  • Unique story idea (at least I've never seen anything like it)

How This Book Was Nay
  • The story did drag a bit in the middle for me.
  • Emma's indecision was a tad annoying at times
  • Also the need to One True Loves spoiler [fuck Jesse again as a goodbye after deciding she wanted to be with Sam] was not necessary...

Rating: 5/5 Stars
