Love Charms & Other Catastrophes Review

Love Charms and Other Catastrophes was just the book I needed after enduring so many frustratingly complicated, heartache inducing romantic plots. (Though this book itself also broke my heart a couple times)

Aspiring love charm maker Hijiri Kitamura was excited to come back to Grimbaud for her sophomore year-until she learns about the upcoming charm making competition. Grimbaud has just started to recover from the tyranny of Zita's love fortunes and it would be too easy for the winning charm maker to take Zita's place. The only solution is for Hijiri, with the support of her friends and fellow rebels, to win the contest herself.

Unfortunately, that's easier said than done, especially when Love itself has decided to meddle in Hijiri's life. Concerned that it's favorite charm maker has given up on finding a boyfriend of her own, Love takes matters into its own hands and delivers the perfect boyfriend to her in a giftwrapped box...literally.

Get ready to be charmed by this magical, quirky sequel to Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius.

A boy stepped out of the box.

In the first book, Love Fortunes and Other Disasters we met Fallon Dupree, the daughter of two infamous Health Inspectors.

The sequel follows Hijiri Kitamura, an extremely talented love charm maker.

All the characters are fabulous, I don't believe there's one person in The Charm Theory Club that I haven't fallen in love with to a certain degree. Bram and Ms. Ward, while not in the club, are also among my favorite human's in the series.

Something I love in particular about the Grimbaud series is how refreshingly unique the basis of the novel is.

The way magic is portrayed, the town, and especially the first book's villain, are the reasons I adore this series so much.

A lot of the time when I'm deciding on a rating I hesitate on whether to give a book 5 stars, but with this book there was simply no doubt.

I knew the second I'd finished the last page that Grimbaud and all it's citizens had earned a place in my heart.

The shipppssss!!!!! They are all so f**king adorable (excuse the foul mouth, no normal human word would be adequate to describe the cuteness radiating from this novel) Love Fortunes & Other Disasters spoilers First there's Fallon and Sebastian who are a beautifully darling couple. Nico and Martin are fantastic. And the newest ship to join Grimbaud's Shippys is box boy (Ken) and Hijiri.

You can read Love Charms before reading Love Fortunes, however I think you should read Love Fortunes first.

As you might be a bit confused concerning the towns background, and it's nice to go into Love Charms already familiar with the characters.

This series is definitely worth a look at, and if you've already read the first book then definitely check out the sequel.
