Kick-Off & Introduction Love-A-Thon

Okay yes, the idiot in me forgot to prepare this post *sigh* but I remembered-ish and I'm hurriedly trying to prepare this post. I have recently been a wreak, keeping up with life is hard sometimes. Anywho let's get started. [The Love-A-Thon is a challenge hosted by Alexa, Cee, Hazel, & Mel]

1. What's your name?

Thy name is Cassidy. My last name's pretty common in China, and when mispronounced can mean male genitals. (no I will not tell you my name, you must go find it yourself) (and yes I have suffered my entire life because the male genitals thing)

2. Where in the world are you blogging from?

The grand old US, I'm part of the first generation of my family born in America (my parents are immigrants)

3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?

I created a DIY blog (fail), and  tried to be a booktuber (also a fail), and when neither worked out I found a happy medium as a book blogger.

4. How did you come up with your blog name?

I started blogging using my full name as the url, but I never quite liked that name. My current blog name came to me as a result of seeing a hotel name I think it was rose something. I'm not sure how I eventually landed on Quartzfeather but I did. It all started with a hotel.

5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?

Young Adult, and if that isn't a genre fantasy, and even more specifically retellings. I basically exclusively read YA.

6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

I review animated movies occasionally (cause I adore them) and I also do some posts on blogging/coding tips. I really like web design so I'm slowly picking up some HTML and sometimes when I'm fiddling with my design I discover something that I think needs to be shared with the world.

7. Best blogging experience so far?

I haven't been here long but so far I think getting comments are the best thing ever. They just make me feel so happy.

8. Favorite thing about the blogging community?

I love how open and friendly everyone is, it's rare to see hate or mean vibes in this community.

9. Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2016!

Because I joined the book world I've discovered so many more awesome series and authors, there for I have so many books to look forward too. I'm looking forward to a couple series enders (while also dreading them cause what if they don't end the series well) such as The Rose & The Dagger, The Beauty of Darkness and The Winner's Kiss. P.S. I Like You and Heartless also look promising.

10. Name the 5 books you want to read this 2016 that you didn’t get to in previous years!

Oh dear. Let's just say this list is VERY long. Six of Crows, Landline, Their Shattered Light, The Raven Boys, Rebel Belle, and a ton more. I have a lot to catch up on.

11. What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?

E.D. Baker's books. Honestly I was addicted to them for awhile as a younger human. Literally I was obsessed with the name Esmeralda (my obsession with long and usual names started as a young child, for example some character names from my current writing project: Renagade, Regency, Mareilla, Mardue, and Ellington)

12. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?

Oh I'd love to be friends with Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles, she's sassy and badarse (arse is British for ass) basically my definition of an amazing person.

13. Which book boy or girl would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?

Hmm this is hard. My type tends to be skinny, witty, smart, and sometimes short (I don't mind tall people) So maybe Goose from Mirrored, Jaron from The False Prince, or Kai from The Lunar Chronicles.

14. Who would you recruit for your apocalypse squad?

Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles (she has tranquilizer in her finger so of course) Kestrel from The Winner's Trilogy, and Jaron from The Ascendance Trilolgy.

15. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?

Writing, drawing, DIYing, jewelry making, clothing and web design. Plus I adore animated movies.

16. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?

Craft supplies, and fabric.

17. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?

Any song from either of the How To Train Your Dragon soundtracks (I positively adore movie soundtracks) but if it's a song with words it's gonna be For the Dancing and The Dreaming, which is also from How To Train Your Dragon 2. It's just so romantic I know the lyrics by heart.

18. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.

I'd love to see The Lunar Chronicles as movies, specifically since, you know, futuristic moon society. (I just hope they cast an Asian people as Kai)

19. What would your dream library look like?

Just a room with tons of books, windows, and pillows, oh and a computer for review writing.

20. Author you want to meet and sit down to tea with?

MARISSA MEYER!!!!! (I'd say Laura Wilder, but she's sorta not alive, so it'd be kinda weird) She's thee queen. I adore her books, and she's a real inspiration. (speaking of that I still don't have Stars Above *cries*)
