{Quartz Gazette #3} Cats + Snow + 2016 & Bookish Stuff

Quartz Gazette Jan 2016

Big news people {well not really} but last week I saw my first falling snow. Before this I lived in southern California and Florida so basically no snow. But I moved this summer and my new town just got hit by an historic amount of snow. Eh guess the snow was eager to see me too.

Also if you'll kindly notice Mr. Cat decided to join me on my header. With Christmas gone the reindeer had to go, but my header was lonely without anything extra so I plopped down a cat. Plus the snowflakes are gone {I hope it wasn't too annoying} but the snow and reindeer will be back next year!

PS: My book photo for Wrath & The Dawn was liked and reposted by the author, Renee Ahdieh!!!  *runs around screaming with hands in the air, senpai has noticed me*

PPS: Thanks to Cait from Paperfury I've been eyeing Scrivener (a writing program thingie that helps authors write) what do you guys think? Should I buy it?

Book Notes AKA Quote Love

  • WINTER Wolf made a strangled sound, pulling everyone’s attention toward him as he lifted a handgun from the crate. “It’s just like the one Scarlet had.” He flipped the gun in his palms, running his thumb along the barrel. “She shot me in the arm once.” This confession was said with as much tenderness as if Scarlet had given him a bouquet of flower rather than a bullet wound.
  • THESE BROKEN STARS “Major, to what extent did you act upon your feelings for Miss LaRoux?" "Medium." "Excuse me?" "How am I supposed to answer that question?”
  • SON “Fear dims when you learn things.”
  • THE WRATH AND THE DAWN “So you would have me throw Shazi to the wolves?” “Shazi?” Jalal’s grin widened. “Honestly, I pity the wolves.”
  • 99 DAYS "For example, here is my homecoming card from your sister."
  • MAGONIA "My disease is so rare it's named Azaray Syndrome. After me, Aza Ray Boyle. Which is perverse. I don't want a doppelgänger in disease form, some weird medical case immortality, which means medical students'll be saying my name for the next hundred years."

The Leaning Pile of Books

  • WINTER 5/5 *pounds fist on wall* Why is this magnificent series over. (okay there's still Stars Above, but... you know what I mean) The Lunar Chronicles have been part of life for the last two years and it sad to it end. But this book was beautiful, perfection.
  • SON 4/5 Am I satisfied? Err No? I don't really think the really wrapped up the series in the way I wanted it too but I can see why it ended the way it did. But still while Son was amazing I can't say it really made my expectations of an end. Though it still gets four stars.
  • THE WRATH & THE DAWN 5/5 *screech* There was no way not to love this amazing book. Renee Ahdieh blew it out of the water. The characters, the plot, the romance, the fooood, all of it was amazing.
  • 99 DAYS 1/5 I disliked this book as much as I wanted to finish it. (which is a lot) Even though the second half of the book (particularity the "love triangle") annoyed me to pieces, I still had to finish it. I'll give it that, it was very addicting. The author's writing style was much loved by me, but the plot ruined the book for me. I just didn't get the point of the book if that makes any sense.
  • MAGONIA 5/5 I've had this one on my TBR for a long long time. Aza is an absolutely snarky darling. I'm also really enjoying how Magonia is being introduced to the story, via folklore and legend plus flying ships.
